LUCAS KONG & TANG SIEW YII
Sarawak
I was a university student, while Siew Yii worked as a banker. A car accident made us realise how financially vulnerable we were — a single incident could wipe out our life savings. This realisation prompted us to seek business opportunities that could offer better financial security.
Our journey with Amway began with our upline and friend, Alan Wong, who regularly invited me to Amway meetings. Over time, I grew increasingly interested. The legendary story of Diamond Chan Poh Yoke, the business model’s promising potential, and the company’s long-standing product history convinced us that we needed to become ABOs.
This decision, however, faced significant resistance from my parents and siblings, who doubted my ability to succeed. Friends were also sceptical and questioned our choice. Needless to say, the early stages of our Amway journey were filled with challenges.
We lacked confidence and connections, which made it difficult for our business to gain traction. We faced mockery and criticism from those around us. A pivotal moment occurred when my mother tearfully pleaded for me to stop my Amway business. Her pleas only strengthened my resolve to succeed. We continued to attend meetings and listen to motivational CDs, which gradually reinforced our belief in Amway.
Our business philosophy evolved from self-improvement to helping others. The satisfaction of seeing others grow and succeed in Amway became a driving force for us. This philosophy, combined with staying true to our initial purpose and treating people sincerely, became the cornerstone of our business. We prioritised Amway, dedicating ourselves fully for 3-5 years, believing it would provide lifelong benefits.
Achieving the Diamond pin was a deeply emotional milestone, one which we celebrated with our family and team. Amway has provided us with everything that we have today. The positive environment helped me transform from a shy, insecure individual into a confident person, one with decisive thoughts and ideas.
The freedom to manage our own schedules has allowed us to spend more time with our family. As a parent, it is a blessing indeed to be able to be there for my child from birth. All our family members have embraced Amway products, and some have even embarked on their own Amway journey.
My advice to other ABOs is to put Amway first, stay focused, take massive action, and continuously grow the business. Our next goal is to achieve the Founders Executive Diamond pin. With determination and the support of the Amway community, we are confident that our dreams are within reach.
"The satisfaction of seeing others grow and succeed in Amway became a driving force for us."
