I studied accounting at university and believed that life could be precisely controlled. But a university assignment on “Time and Money Management” opened my eyes. Whether I worked in a big corporation or started my own business, I would never truly have both time and freedom.
That’s when my sponsor, Loo Wei Wei, and Founders Platinum Lim Yong Kong, introduced me to Amway — a business that offered both autonomy and time freedom.
However, shortly after I signed up, I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus. On the eve of the Winter Solstice in 2011, I fell into a 36-hour coma. The doctors told my family, “If she doesn’t wake up, be prepared to say goodbye.” Miraculously, I did. And in that moment, I felt truly awakened — to not take life for granted.
I began taking Nutrilite products, not to build a business, but just to survive. Though my body was extremely weak, I never missed a meeting, even when it meant travelling to Kuala Lumpur.
True transformation isn’t about sudden breakthroughs, but unwavering persistence. Despite doubts and discouragement, I held fast to my belief in the company’s mission, the products, the system, and the support of my team.
My mentor often said, “Being alive is not enough. We must live with purpose and mission.” That struck deep. I realised I wasn’t just fighting to survive. I wanted to live with meaning, to grow, and help others grow too.
I wasn’t strong when I started Amway. I became stronger because I chose to walk this path. From someone who needed care, I became someone capable of caring for others. This business became more than just a source of income. It became a source of health, confidence, value, and purpose. As Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel said, ‘Given the opportunity, people can achieve greatness.’
Today, I continue this journey with passion, using my story to guide and empower others. To live brightly is only the beginning. To pass on that light is the mission. Amway helped me emerge from darkness, and become a light in someone else’s life. You can too.
To my parents, my family, my team members, and all the Leaders, thank you for your support. Most importantly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all my uplines and life mentors.
We can become someone’s hope, because we have walked through despair. Today, I hope to be that light for someone else, to be someone who lives with light in the eyes, love in the heart, and abundance in the pocket.
