Before Amway, my husband served in the Royal Malaysian Air Force, while I was a schoolteacher. Our careers were stable and respectable, but they left little time for ourselves and our family. Life felt like a routine we could not break free from.
Everything began to change after we attended a seminar in Sungai Petani. The stories we heard sparked our curiosity about Amway’s possibilities. Yet, at the same time, we had lingering doubts. Could we build this business while working fulltime? Could it truly provide a stable income?
Despite our hesitation, we chose to believe and, more importantly, to act. In the early days, we faced scepticism, even from loved ones. Some thought it was a ‘get rich quick’ scheme, while others feared we would fail. We responded with knowledge, facts, and consistency. My guiding principle was simple: “The more you give, the more you’ll get.”
The turning point came when a speaker at a seminar asked, “If you truly believe in your dream, why are you still holding on to Plan A?” That question stayed with me. From that day on, I decided to be fully committed to our Amway business.
When Amway introduced its health and wellbeing focus, we embraced it wholeheartedly. For me, it was more than a business decision—it was life-changing. After battling high blood pressure and high cholesterol, Nutrilite products helped me regain my health and my energy. We no longer felt like we were simply selling products—our business became our mission to help people achieve better health, build lasting confidence, and reclaim the life they deserve.
Of course, challenges remained. I recall a customer who interrogated me on every product detail she could think of, from ingredients to certifications. It was exhausting, but I stayed patient and professional. Over time, she not only trusted me, but also became my strongest source of referrals.
Our persistence finally paid off. We achieved financial stability, bought our dream car and home, and enjoyed family vacations. Yet, the greatest rewards were personal growth — becoming more confident, disciplined, and empathetic — and having the flexibility to spend meaningful time with our children. Today, three of our five children are ABOs, continuing the legacy we built.
Our advice to new ABOs is this: build relationships, don’t just focus on selling products. Learn, adapt and embrace failure as part of the process, and stay true to your ‘why’. Do not force others to share in your vision. Instead, let your actions and consistency speak for you. In time, they will see, believe, and follow.
