I first heard about Amway over 39 years ago but was not invited to a meeting. When Mariam’s uncle and aunt, Fadzil Mahamud & Kalsom Din, visited our home to introduce some home care products, I signed up. However, due to a lack of understanding, we stopped after three months.

In 1989, Mariam purchased some ARTISTRY cosmetics, leading us back to Amway. Our upline, Diamond Chan Poh Yoke, visited us weekly, urging us to try again. I reluctantly attended a business seminar. Initially sceptical, I had an epiphany when I saw the Amway Sales & Marketing Plan. That day, I decided to fully commit and did not miss another weekly meeting.

Despite our dedication, the journey was tough. In 1994, after the passing of Diamond Chan Poh Yoke, our business struggled, and we were on the brink of losing our home. With no uplines or Platinum leaders to guide us, the challenges were overwhelming, but we refused to give up. I made the difficult decision to resign as a postman in 1997 to focus entirely on our Amway business.

The turning point came when a Raya postcard from a downline reignited my motivation. I knew I had to change my approach. With renewed determination, we achieved Sapphire and Emerald in 2000, and Mariam joined me fulltime.

Our leadership approach is simple — identify each person’s strengths, provide structured training, and lead by example. We gradually gave them the opportunity to take ownership of their growth while providing continuous support. We taught our team to focus on helping others build a better life.

After 24 years of hard work, we achieved the Founders Emerald and Diamond pin in 2009. The rewards exceeded our expectations — Amway Leadership Seminar trips, Business Class travel, and a thriving organisation.

From 2013 to 2015, we continued breaking barriers, achieving Founders Diamond, Executive Diamond, and Founders Executive Diamond. Even during the pandemic, we remained resilient, leading our team to reach Double Diamond in 2020 and Founders Double Diamond in 2021. This milestone was made even more special as our son, Shahrul Fahmee & Mazliatul, also achieved the same pin.

In 2023, Mariam and I made history as the first Bumiputera leaders in Malaysia and globally to achieve Triple Diamond. Our success is not just measured in financial rewards, but also in the leaders we have nurtured and the legacy we are building.

Even after all these years, we continue to learn, adapt, and grow alongside our ABOs. As the business evolves, staying open-minded, committed, and passionate about helping others succeed is key. If a humble postman and schoolteacher can achieve this, so can you!
